Practicing What I Preach

There’s a saying of “Practice what you preach”. Most people think it means that if you give advice that you should be living by the same principles otherwise you are being a hypocrite. I think that is true, but I also think this concept can be applied to faith. There’s nothing that I write about faith that I don’t apply to myself first. In fact, I believe that faith is a very personal thing. What works for me may not work for everyone else or even for anyone else. I only share my own experience.

The interesting part is that often times when it comes to faith, those people of faith who are preaching the Word of God don’t pay attention to the very words that they are preaching. God is love. God is understanding and tolerance. Yet, most people who belong to organized religions don’t show love and tolerance towards people of other religions. They believe that those who don’t believe the way they believe aren’t worthy of being saved. The truth is God doesn’t have a religion. Religion is something that man created. God created all humans and He loves all humans. He commands that I do the same.

My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
