Coincidence

The other day I was watching a documentary where some people were putting together these coincidences and coming up with the craziest conspiracy theories about a woman’s death that they could imagine.  The whole situation gave me pause because I believe there are no coincidences and that they do tell us something, but I couldn’t believe that the coincidences that these people were finding would ever lead me to the strange wild theories that they were finding.  I asked myself:  What is the difference between their coincidences and mine?

The answer is simple. Their coincidences are supposed to somehow reveal some information has been hidden.  The problem is that if someone or some group were to hide some important information, then they probably wouldn’t leave clues like that.  It either means that the person or persons hiding the information isn’t very intelligent or they think the people they are hiding the information from aren’t very intelligent.  I don’t think if someone were to create a conspiracy on that level that they would assume the players were of low intelligence.

As for my coincidences, they don’t reveal some hidden information.  My coincidences reveal signs of faith. They are like the road signs along the path of my life.  I can choose to pay attention to them or not.  Sometimes if I miss one, I might get lost.  Sometimes if I ignore something God is trying to tell me, I might go down the wrong path and have to find my way back.   Many times, the signs just let me know that I am going down the right path.  They don’t give me anything extra.  God doesn’t reveal any hidden secrets of the universe.  He doesn’t even reveal His plan for me.  He just gives me a little guidance about where I should be going.   There’s no conspiracy or no hidden meanings or messages. Just little coincidences and the only reason they mean anything at all is because I have faith that they do.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
