Lifecycle

I was riding in the car with my husband, and I had a thought. Maybe everything has already happened before even a few times.  What I mean is this: the earth and universe are millions of years old.  Man isn’t.  When we study fossils and dinosaurs, we can go back, but I don’t think we can go back to the beginning of time.  What if it all happened before? What if it is meant to happen again?

Could man just be like a parasite on the earth?  We grow like a virus or a cancer and start to destroy the earth.  Then nature defends itself. First with viruses, then with global warming. Maybe later there will be a cataclysmic event that will kill all life on earth.  Once it takes place, after millennia, life will find a way, and everything will start again new.  Like a cycle.  It will all happen again like it did before.  Like it had started it the past.  It is a circle, like a snake eating its own tale.

There’s absolutely no way to prove this idea of the universe, but it gives me a little comfort.  In all our pridefulness, humans still think we are the center of the universe. My idea is that we are a tiny virus as insignificant as the common cold.  Yet, there’s meaning in all of existence, even in my tiny stupid little life.  God sees me even in a vast limitless universe.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
