I was reading about speaking in tongues today. It’s a spiritual gift listed in the Bible. There are several spiritual gifts listed in the Bible. I can’t say that a person who speaks in tongues is right or wrong. I don’t know what the experience is like. I believe that we all have different gifts and experiences, and we can’t really dismiss someone else’s experiences.
A good example is past lives. I really don’t know what happens when someone dies. I have a difficult time believing in reincarnation because it doesn’t make sense to me, but I can’t rule out the possibility. More importantly, if someone told me that they truly believed in reincarnation, then I may doubt it, but I don’t have the ability to dismiss their experience. Something inside their heart is leading them down that path and I don’t have the importance to judge them.
Just the same, I claim to be able to see and feel energies. It’s something that I can’t prove. However, I know that it is real. I would hope that the people in my life, even if they doubted my ability would have the respect for me to at least understand that I believed and that it was a reality in my experience.
It is sad when Christians and other people who believe in God care more about the appearance of what it looks like to others and what the church seems to be than what the reality of their beliefs really is. When people fret over appearance, then belief is simply an illusion. However, when belief is at the core of being, then belief shapes reality and anything is possible, even miracles.
I have found that same sentiment in the Bible. Jesus and the apostles didn’t want people to worry about what their worship of God appeared like to other people. They wanted people to worry about what their worship of God meant to them in their hearts. When I live with an open heart full of God’s love, then it really doesn’t matter, everything else will fall into place.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
