War

Today Russia invaded the Ukraine.  It is half a world away.  Yet, I just feel so much sorrow knowing that people are dying and for what? Because of an arbitrary line saying where one nation ends and another begins?  Yes, I know nationalism matters, but for me, in my story, the most important thing is life.  It is the most precious and amazing gift that God gives to us.  It is something that should never be taken for granted.  Most importantly, it shouldn’t be used as cheap currency in one man’s or one country’s bid for power.

I really don’t care about the politics behind the war that is taking place.  I don’t think in any war there’s ever one side that is totally wrong and one side that is totally right.  There’s never a winner and a loser; there’s just one side that loses less than the other.  I feel sorrow because death, fear, and anger are being felt across the world today and those can only lead humanity away from God.  It is at times like these when I know to turn to God looking for forgiveness, patience, and love.   May the light of God somehow shine in the world tonight and lead us through these dark times.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
