God Loves Us All The Same

I heard an idea last night that has stuck with me. God doesn’t love me more than anyone else. I know that I have a unique relationship with God and that it is constantly changing and evolving, but that isn’t because God changes, I change. My relationship with God is unique because I am unique. God is, has been, and will be the same God for anyone and everyone. He is the alpha and the omega. There’s no true religion that makes one person God’s chosen one. Believing in God doesn’t change the nature of God. In fact, having a special relationship with God is something anyone can have. There are literally billions of people who can have a special loving relationship with God. It is a paradox because the factor that makes my relationship with God special and unique is me and yet when I go beyond myself and start to truly see the world through His eyes and love others without thinking about myself so much is when I start to become the person He sees when He looks down on me from Heaven. It isn’t that I shouldn’t love myself. It’s just that God loves us all the same because we are all His children no matter what we do. And I guess that if I want to love like God does, then I have to learn to love myself the way He loves me and then learn to love everyone else that way, too. I’ll never reach that perfection, but I’d love to try.

My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
