My Responsibility

In the news, there’s been a talk of vaccine mandates. Some people say the government shouldn’t be allowed to tell them to get a vaccine. (Although the government has been telling people to get vaccines for years.) On the other hand, the government shouldn’t be allowed the tell people how to run their business and have to be forced to keep unvaccinated employees if they don’t want to. My thoughts on this one issue are the same as masks. It really doesn’t help to force people to do anything. It isn’t God’s way to take away our free-will and it would be better if we could find a way to deal with this situation in a loving way that God would. However, I know that isn’t going to happen. It just gets to me that so many people are wanting to assert their freedom, and yet they don’t seem to understand what freedom really is. When God gave us free will, we gained the knowledge to know the difference between right and wrong. It made us responsible for choosing our own path. I could choose to live a life dedicated to the principles of love that are in the Bible or I could choose to live a life dedicated to my self and evil deeds. In the United States, we are given freedoms as well. When people think that someone is taking away those freedoms, I hear protest and complaints. However, when it is time to be responsible for those freedoms, I don’t hear very many voices at all. Part of having freedom is being a responsible citizen. It is knowing the difference between right and wrong and living for what is right. As a Christian, I try my best to follow God’s will. As an American, I follow the laws of government, I vote, and I support the U.S. constitution. I believe in our government, I know it is flawed in many ways, but the freedom that is my right is also my responsibility. My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
