Communicate

I heard someone say yesterday that a writer’s job isn’t just to entertain, but also to educate.  I didn’t agree with that statement at all.  Some writing educates.  Some writing entertains.  Writing does all kinds of things for all kinds of purposes.  If I read a textbook, then the writing is meant for education.   If I read a joke book, then the writing is meant for entertainment.  People write for all kinds of different reasons.  I hate the idea of anyone saying that my job as a writer is defined.

For me, I think there is only one definition for my job as a writer.  My job is to communicate.  I am here to share a message. That’s it.  Nothing special just share a message with others.

We all want to believe that we are the main character in our own lives at the we are going to change the world or at least for the longest time I know I did.  However, as I have grown older, I realized that I am God’s servant.  He is the main character; I am just a supporting character.  I’m still important, but I’m just a subplot: a part of the greater whole.   The special and wonderful thing is that the universe wouldn’t be the same without me, but I am not the center of the universe.

So, I do my part.  I live this life, and I share my message.  I have faith that God’s plan for me is exactly what He want me to do.   And I don’t worry about changing the world or being important.  I don’t need it.   All I need is to know that I tried to be the person God wanted me to be.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
