Resolutions

It is the day before the end of the year and many people decide to make New Year’s resolutions. I find it ironic that people make these resolutions and then many people don’t follow them through. I looked up what it means exactly. A resolution is to make a firm decision to do something, but more importantly when someone comes to a resolution they come to the answer or solution to a problem.

I think the reason many people don’t follow through on their resolutions is simply that they don’t think there’s really anything wrong with their lives in the first place. There’s no problem to solve. If they really think there’s something in their lives that they need to change, then they aren’t going to wait around for the changing of the year to do it.

This situation is all about faith and the power of the human spirit. If a person has faith and belief, then they are capable of miracles. Any New Year’s resolutions is achievable. The problem lies in realizing that success or failure doesn’t lie in outside forces, but within the individuals heart and soul.

I, personally, don’t do New Year’s resolutions. It isn’t that I don’t think that my life needs improvement. It does and I am continuing to work on it. I don’t do it because I have OCD. If I set resolutions for myself, I would drive myself crazy either trying to keep them or feeling like a failure because I didn’t keep them. Instead I resolve not to put myself in situations that cause myself to have unnecessary pressure and stress from OCD.

My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
