I remember a scene from one of the Harry Potter films where the headmaster tells Harry that there’s always help for those who ask for it. It is almost like he is trying to convey some hidden agenda or mystery. I don’t know, maybe he was. I never really knew all the little ins and outs of the Harry Potter books.
However, I always thought that line was interesting because of my faith in God. It always feels like if I put something out into the universe, then something somehow will come back to me. I have recently been worried about leaving my aunt alone when we go out of town. For the last few weeks, it seemed overwhelming. And yet, in the last few days, I have had several people offer me advice and help.
I don’t know if it really was true that help was always available for Harry when he asked for it, but I know that when you have faith, God will listen to your prayers. God may not answer your prayers the way you want them answered, but He does listen. With faith and prayer, I have come to understand that He listens, and He answers, but it is always His will that must be done, not mine.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
