Today I had to deal with someone that to put it nicely tries my patience. I found something amazing happened in my interaction with them. I found myself praying before I talked to them. I asked God to help me remember to have patience and kindness for every person I interact with and to remember that I should love all of my brothers and sisters in Christ because they have the light of God within them.
I know it might seem like something crazy to do, but it made a difference. Prayers like that don’t change the world or the people in it. Prayers like that don’t change God. However, prayers like that do change me. It isn’t easy and it takes time, but the more I pray about it, the more I start to see God in everyone. And when I see a little bit of God in everyone, it’s a lot easier to be understanding, patient, and loving even with the most trying people that I encounter.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
