Life is a Miracle

I had a fever today.  I finished my work and then I went to lie down.  After being asleep for a little while, I woke up.  When I sat up in my bed, my two dogs were lying right next to me. For a moment, I realized that I wasn’t alone in my bed.  These two little animals were right next to me.  It wasn’t just that they just happened to be there. They wanted to be there.  They see me as being part of their pack.  On some level, I already knew this.  However, it hit me hard that sometimes I don’t always fully appreciate the life around me.

These dogs are my companions, and I am so thankful for them.  Although I do a lot to take care of them, they bring so much into my life that I can’t imagine life without them.  If I can forget how amazing those lives are, then it is much easier for me to forget the beauty and quality of the life of the person who passes by me in the grocery store.  And yet, that life is a miracle of God.   When I woke up and saw those two pups lying down next to me, I felt like I woke up to the realization that every life is precious and every life is a miracle.

I often write that God gives me signs and they seem like these amazing coincidences.  Yesterday, I went to Walmart and the checker who took care of me told me that the name on her badge was short for Milagros.  It was a name I had never heard before, but Milagros means miracles in Spanish.  There truly are signs everywhere as long as I keep my eyes and my heart open to them.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
