I have been listening to documentaries. The one thing that I understand more than anything else from these stories is that there’s so much that I don’t understand. I am a woman who lives in Texas. That fact gives me a certain perspective and I might be able to understand that other people have a different experience in their lives, but I will never be able to understand what it is like to walk in their shoes.
I think it is an important lesson to learn because all too often people want to impose their sense of morality and ethics on other people. I don’t believe that’s God’s way. When we became self-aware by eating of the tree of knowledge, it changed us, but it didn’t make us judge over the human race. Being self-aware makes us able to know our true nature, not the ability to know someone else’s true nature. I believe with all my heart that the only true sin is when we act against our true nature and when we aren’t true to ourselves, we sin against ourselves, and we sin against God. That’s why human beings are capable of sin. We are self-aware.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
