I listened to a documentary today about UFOs. I haven’t made up my mind about UFOs. I don’t know what to think about them and I have never had an experience with them, but there was something interesting brought up in this documentary. For the longest time, people have questioned whether or not the people who claimed to have seen UFOs should be believed. There has been the suggestion that these people should be doubted for various reasons. The documentary changed the conversation saying that instead of questioning whether or not they saw a UFO, we should instead be focusing on what it means to them to have seen the UFO.
It wouldn’t seem like it has to do very much with God, but it does. Sometimes we spend so much time focusing on whether or not there is a God or which religion is the correct one that what we should be focusing on is how believing what we believe means to us.
For example, for me, I don’t think it matters whether or not the stories of the Bible or true. What matters to me is that the stories of the Bible have spiritual teachings that allow to commune with God and the universe. They help me to know that my life isn’t pointless.
Belief can be a powerful thing and it can shape our lives and our reality. Maybe we should stop questioning fact and start understanding how belief changes a person’s life.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
