My husband and I talked today about critical thinking skills. It seems like there’s a small percentage of people who have really good critical thinking skills. Most people take things at face value; they don’t understand that most of the time the message that they get through communication is more than what is said with words. Much of our communication is non-verbal. Much of what we see on TV, in movies, or on the internet is custom made to shape our thinking. Most people don’t realize it or even want to think about it.
There’s this theory of reincarnation that suggest that a soul will be reincarnated over and over again until they develop these critical thinking skills and start to see the messages underneath all the static of the world. In order word, they become self-actualized. I don’t really know if reincarnation exists. However, I won’t say it isn’t possible.
I tend to think maybe it isn’t about critical thinking. It might be more about faith. After all, in my modern world there’s tons of static, but in a native village in the deeps of a jungle maybe not so much. I believe faith has more to do with it. If someone can find faith and surrender themselves to God, then critical thinking isn’t as important because that person is already discerning important questions about existence, life, death, and God. In other words, I don’t thin you need to be a philosopher or a genius to be able to understand God. You don’t need to be able to reach a certain level of understanding about the world, religion, or morality and ethics. It isn’t about how smart you are. It’s about love. It’s about surrender. Anyone has the ability to take that leap of faith and give themselves to God. Anyone has the capacity for love.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
