Connected to my Father

We had a garage sale today. It’s August and one of the hottest days of the year. When I was younger a day like this would have caused me to overheat.  However, now that I am older, although I got hot, I didn’t get overheated.   Out of the four of us running the garage sale, I was the one who was least affected by the heat.

My dad was like that as well.  He used to like to go outside and sit in the heat.  He would get cold easily and sitting in the heat made him feel good.  When I was younger, I couldn’t understand how he could bear the heat, yet today I got it.

As I get older, I find myself feeling more and more in tune with my father.  I always knew that I was sort of like him, but now even those things about him that I didn’t understand like being able to sit in the heat, I understand.

He has been gone almost nine years, but I find it amazing that we had more in common than I ever knew.  I guess that’s what is wonderful about this world, we are all connected in ways that we can’t understand.  God asks for us to love one another, follow the signs, believe without proof because we are all connected even if we can’t see it.  Knowing that there’s so much of a connection between my father and I helps me to believe that we are all connected and there’s love among all of us even if I can’t see it or prove it.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
