I wanted to continue the idea of walking on a tight rope because more came to me. When a tight rope walker is walking, they have to plan out the walk. They have to think about how they are going to do it and all the factors that are going to go into it. However, when they are in the thick of it, that walker isn’t thinking about the step they took when they first got on the rope and they aren’t thinking about the step they have to take at the end, that walker is right there in the moment thinking about the step they are taking right now. If they think about all the other steps they took or will need to take, then they won’t be able to concentrate and find balance in what they are doing right now.
In much the same sense, in life, yes I need to plan my journey. I need to think about all the steps I take, where I came from and where I am going to, but the most important thing is to be in the moment. How can I find balance in the here and now, if my mind is somewhere else? That’s why it is so important to be present with God. Yes, where I came from is important and so is where I am going to, but if I miss out on right now, then I am missing out on life.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
