It is Thanksgiving day. A familiar site is for family to gather around a table share a meal and go around to each person sharing what they are thankful for. The usual things to be thankful for are family, love, home, etc. We are always thankful for the things that bring us joy and make us happy. We are thankful for the “things that make life worth living.”
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for all those things, but I have found more to be thankful for. I am thankful for all the pain and the bad days and everything in my life that makes it a struggle and a challenge. If it weren’t for those things, I don’t think I would really understand faith. I wouldn’t understand that God doesn’t make my life perfect, God only promises to walk beside me and not abandon me. Most importantly, if it weren’t for those things, I wouldn’t understand that to really experience everything that life has to offer, I need to embrace not just the good and easy experiences, but all the experiences even the difficult and painful ones.
I woke up today with a bad migraine headache, but that is just part of my life. The pain was excruciating. Yet, I wasn’t scared for a moment that it would be something I couldn’t handle. God was with me. So, I am thankful for the pain, the experiences, and every moment of my life. Happy Thanksgiving.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
