I often write about having moments of coincidence when it feels like God is letting me know I am on the right path. Those little moments are amazing for me and I really treasure them. During the last few years, when I have been working on my writing career, I have had moments like that when I write a story. It is the strangest thing to happen because it isn’t like God is working within the universe I am creating in my written work. The universe is all just in my imagination. However, it all feels strange and amazing at the same time. For example, in one of my stories, I wanted to add a new character and not just a minor character. It was going to be a new main character that would completely change the entire story. I thought if I did it, the story wouldn’t work anymore, but when I did it, the story worked better. In fact, it was almost like my story was just waiting for that new character to be introduced.
So, here’s the faith element. Some would say that my unconscious mind is working out the story and my conscious mind is just trying to catch up and when thing like this work out, it is just because it seems really amazing, but it is just the regular complexities of the mind. For a person of faith, like me, that just doesn’t work. My stories, at their heart, share a vision about God’s love and having faith in God. Even though I am writing horror stories, my focus is about sharing faith and the power of faith. If that’s what the story is about, then I have to have faith that the universe, God, the creator, or whatever anyone wants to call it somehow is a part of that vision. I wouldn’t be writing, I wouldn’t be alive, if it weren’t for God. So, when things work out and something goes right in my work. I thank God. Even if no one ever reads a word of my writing, God moved me to write and I am grateful.
My faith saved me. May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
