The Veil

I always thought it was a weird coincidence that evil is live spelled backwards.  Then, today I was reading a book and I realized that evil is an anagram for veil.  It could just be a coincidence, but I can’t help but wonder if maybe there’s something interesting about those words.

I think evil is probably one of the most misunderstood concepts ever.  It is like this: Suppose God created the darkness and the light.  We decided the light was good and the darkness was bad.  Then, we spent the rest of eternity questioning why God could allow a universe where He could allow darkness to exist.

So, in this thought experiment.  First, God doesn’t allow darkness to exist, He creates the darkness because it has a purpose in His plan.  Second, human beings decide that darkness is bad.  Third, human beings question God’s plan when it doesn’t fit with their expectations.

Maybe these words are connected because we need to lift the veil and see evil for what it really is part of what we need to be able to live a full life.  (All three words in one sentence!)

No matter what “it” is, evil, nuclear bombs, terrorism, etc.  If something exists, God created it. He created everything.  That’s my faith.  So, He has a plan and whatever He creates is part of that plan, my part is to have faith in the plan even when I don’t understand the plan and even when life is painful and it hurts.    That’s the deal I made with God.  It’s a struggle sometimes.  It’s a struggle most days, but I think the love of God is worth it.

My faith saved me.  May God’s peace reside in all of our hearts.
